Who should read this ?
This introduction to speech recognition was written to provide students and
graduates with the necessary background to understand the principles of speech
recognition technology.
It will give an overview over the very basics of pattern matching and
stochastic modelling and it will show how the dynamic programming algorithm is
used for recognition of isolated words as well as for the recognition of
continuous speech.
While it is impossible to present every detail of all these topics, it should
provide enough information to the interested reader to select among the
numerous scientific publications on the subject.
